Ci refers to the poetry, which originated in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) but was more fully developed in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). This type of poetry is written to certain melodies with strict tonal patterns and rhyme schemes. It has a fixed number of lines and words.
Li Qingzhao (AD 1084 - about 1151) was a very famous poetess of the Song Dynasty in Jinan of Shandong Province. She was also famous for her fine drawings and was very patriotic to her country.
At an early age she had studied a lot about history and books. Her talents were Proficiency in poetry, prose, calligraphy, painting and music but her greatest talent was her Ci (form of poetry).
When she was 18-year-old she married Zhao Mingcheng and they lived happily together. However, things were changing and in the later years of her life she suffered lots of pains. Her poems are still very popular in china today. There is also a museum in Baotu Park in Jinan for Li Qingzhao.
