    Princess Wen Cheng (? -680) lived more than 1300 years ago, she was the daughter of Emperor Tai Zong of the Tang Dynasty. She was intelligent and beautiful and had read a lot of books. The King of Tibet, Sontzen Gampo wanted to marry a princess from the Tang Dynasty. So Emperor Tai Zong married Princess Wen Cheng to Prince Sontzen Gampo. She brought the central Plains’s culture, arts and artisans there. She made a great amount of contributions for Tibet's economic and cultural development and also the unity between Han and Tibetan nationality. Sontzen Gampo built the Potala in Lhasa in the 7th century for Princess Wen Cheng.
